My Classmates

Hello, My name is Michael A. Ambers, DAV, United States Army. I am a proud member of the Purple Heart Foundation's Veteran Business Training Center. I am also honored to be among a smart and intellegent group of men and women known as A-911.

A-911 is a very cohesive group who strive under pressure. Sometimes, we run around like blind mice, but eventually, one of us will figure it out, and pull the others through. We are from different parts of the world and never met each other. So, while I am in a work at home environment, I feel like I have another family within a family.

Also, we have a special agent. It takes a lot of courage and willingness for him to handle his disabilities. We all are disabled veterans with various disabilities. Hang in there, and let's keep the flame burning!

Comparison Between Today's Kids and Yesterday's Kids

There are major concerns over children health these days. There are too many luxuries out there that spoil children and alters their health. Junk foods, television, and lack of excercise are major contributors in the decline of children health.

I remember as a kid growing up, there were no rides to school. We had to walk to school, rain, sleet, or snow, with all of them books. The fortunate ones had bicycles to ride. We didn't like it then, but we were in the best shape of our lives. We ate junk food then, but the excercise we were getting just from walking to and from school, was stabilizing our metabolism.

So, what do you think happens when you lay around the house and eat, watch television or play video games all day. Your metabolism slows down. That's when you feel tired and sleepy. When you go to sleep, your body is at rest, and so is your metabolism. What can we do about that?

I can remember when I was a teenager, and you hear about somebody having diabetes or high blood pressure, you would assume they were much, much older. Not today, we have more children with diabetes and high blood pressure than ever before. That is because they are not getting any exercise.

Many people don't know what diabetes and high blood pressure is. It is not hereditary. It comes from the same people eating the same thing, with the same bad habits, passed down from generation to generation, with little or no exercise.

I don't know about you, but when I was in the Army, I was in the best shape of my life. I got out and said I was going to take it easy. Boy, did I make a big mistake. All the the other things like bad habits and poor diets began to take it's toll on me. That's when I found out what diabetes and high blood pressure was. My definition of it is: a metabolic disorder due to lack of excercise.

The human body was made to move. When a baby is in his mother's womb, he is constantly moving, or he would drown. You can throw a baby in a swimming pool, because they already by instinct know how to survive.

In summary, unless you have a handicapp that inhibits your movement, try excercising, or just move, whether you are sitting or standing. After a few days, you will notice yourself feeling better.

NFL Dynasties

There are three professional football teams which has won 5 SuperBowls; the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, and recently, the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Which team do you think is the greatest of them all?

a. The San Francisco 49ers: Undefeated at 5-0 in the SuperBowl.

b. The Dallas Cowboys: Went to the most SuperBowls in NFL history with a record of 5-3.

c. The Pittsburgh Steelers: The first team to win three SuperBowls, and also the first team
in the NFL to win back to back SuperBowls twice, with a record of 5-1.

A case can be made for all three teams, but there is only one choice. You choose.
